Members of the project have had the opportunity to document diverse techniques of craft and artistic production. Short videos are made available through this website.

In the framework of this project, we aim at collecting ethnographic and historical data on local traditions and material culture. So far our work has been focused on the region around Dergé, which is an important node for craft and artistic production in Kham.

Stéphane Gros has documented the work that takes place in and around the printing house of Dergé. Kunsang Namgyal-Lama brings back from her recent fieldwork in Derge footage that describes in detail chiseling and sand casting techniques.

You can access the short videos detailing the process of paper-making as well as the work that takes place in the printing house.
